Driveways are the first impressions to your Derby home and where off street parking is becoming a luxury, a carefully designed, attractive driveway will help to add value to your home and have high kerb appeal.
There is a good range of product options for a new driveway to suit all tastes and budgets from block paving, resin, driveway setts and cobbles, and permeable paving, and with multiple styles, colours and finishes available you will be sure to find the right product to improve your properties frontage.
If you would like to maintain a traditional garden feel to the front of your house then you can incorporate ground level planted borders or turfing to help soften the front garden, this not only helps with the kerb appeal but they also help to reduce the cost and keep budgets under control.
It is also worth baring in mind when planning your new driveway, that on 1st October 2008 new rules applied for Derby householders wanting to hard surface over their front gardens. If the surface to be covered is more than five square meters you are required to get planning permission for laying traditional, impermeable driveways that do not control rainwater running off onto roads. This will apply to new driveways, drive extensions or drive replacements.
You do NOT need planning permission if the surface area is less than five square meters or if the new surface is permeable or porous or if a traditional surface is laid and the rainwater is directed to a lawn or border to drain naturally or if it is directed to a soakaway via a drainage channel.
